Poker is an interesting game that usually involves money. Obviously, when it comes to money we’re talking about the earnings or the rake back of players. Unlike actual games in casinos, calculating rake back sounds a bit confusing for many online poker players. In popular casinos, a player’s earning or rake back is being calculated by the cashier or anyone who has enough skill in doing such thing. In poker games online, there are also several ways to calculate rake backs. Actually, there are three popular methods used. Let’s take a look a brief explanation about these methods, together with some examples that will make you understand clearly.
But then, before we proceed on that, let’s take a look with the so called “Monthly Gross Rake” (MGR). As an experienced player, knowing MGR is very important. This is in order to know what you will exactly get from playing poker games online. Monthly Gross Rake (MGR) is the profit a poker room has earned from players inside. As for players, rake back is based on Monthly Gross Rake. Let’s say for instance a player earns $1000 and has the desire rake back of 35%, then the player will definitely receive %35 as his or her earnings or rake back. As mentioned there are three ways to calculate rake back based on Monthly Gross Rake back (MGR). The easiest and the most popular among these methods is the so-called “dealt” method.
Players can use dealt method if there is rake taken from the pot. As expected, a player has dealt in hand. The computation goes like this. As a player won the game, he or she will earn “Monthly Gross Rake back” apart from his or her rake back in hand. The formula of computing rake back using dealt method is = to the amount of pot money/ the amount of player’s dealt. Meaning, the player will receive a desire % as his or her rake back. Let’s say for example there are 10 players in a particular room that have dealt in pot of $4 then the MGR will somehow goes to 0.4 cents right? As a player, it is important to understand that as long as you received cards you have will earn both MGR and rake back at the same time.
The second method of calculating rake back based on MGR is the so-called “average contributed method”. In this method, not only players have to be dealt. Instead, they will need to contribute to the pot at the same time. So, let’s say for instance, 10 players have dealt in hand yet only 6 have contributed to the pot which has a gross rake of $3. Then, that gross rake will be divided into six which will definitely equal to $0.50. To understand it clearly, the formula used in this method is = to the rake amount/ the desire amount being contributed by players.
Last but not the list is the so-called “weighted contributed method”. This method is similar to average contributed method. The formula goes like this. (Amount of contributed in the pot/ the amount in the pot and multiply to the total amount of rake backs. So, if 10 players have dealt yet only 8 players contributed to the pot, and player X has folds up after contributing. Then that player will earn a specific percentage of the pot money. Once you’ve learned how to calculate rake back, you will find it easy to compute your earnings. Bottom line, you will have a better understanding about these methods.
